Community Involvement

Since community involvement is one of the elements of IB, particularly the CAS aspect, I think I have the right to complain on here about mine!

I'm on my city's Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee and I chair the Parks and Rec. Subcommittee. We're having Youth Forums for the next three days and I'm stressed as I've ever been. Not everything's falling in place and I just wish I had more time! Not to mention other clubs and schoolwork, ugh. Three things happening on Hallowe'en: French project due, English project due (wait, this may have been moved to Monday) and a Math test.

Don't get me wrong, I love volunteering and all sorts of extracurriculars, it can just be a little trying sometimes. You've got to learn to pick and choose - don't just jump into everything and hope it'll all fit in. Trust me, it won't, and you'll have to give things up halfway through. Personally, I hate starting something and not gettign through to the end, so once I make a committment, I do everything short of killing myself to follow through. If you're like that, plan ahead first so you're not stuck doing everything at once.
